A new generation of "droplet-free" tap coatings TiN-P, TiCN-P that push the limits of internal threading

Tap is a kind of tool for processing internal threads, according to the shape can be divided into spiral flute taps, tilting angle taps, straight flute taps and pipe thread taps and so on.

Challenges encountered with taps in internal thread machining

A tap is tapped on a bottom hole machined by a drill or the like. In contrast to turning and milling threads, the tapping process is carried out in a semi-enclosed and extremely small space. This causes many of the following problems:

Trouble #1 - Chips don't come out easily.
Trouble 2 - The large contact area between the tap and the workpiece and chips leads to high friction and machining heat, and it is not easy to cool.
Trouble 3--Tap tapping is often the latter part of the process, if the tap breaks or other problems can easily lead to workpiece scrap, resulting in losses.

To address these pain points, tap coatings are needed that enhance surface hardness, have good red-hardness, and are as smooth as possible.
